Cardiovascular herbs and supplements
The cardiovascular system is composed of the heart and blood vessels.
The only organ in our body that is constantly and hardest working throughout our lives
is the heart, whose muscle cells are characterized by the highest energy demand among
all cells in our body.
Arterial vessels are used to transport blood pumped by the myocardium to the
capillary circuit. In contrast, venous vessels transport blood from the
capillaries back to the heart.
The condition of our circulatory system is determined by:
- In what condition is the heart muscle, with which force it is able to pump blood,
regularity of its contractions (regularity of heart rate) and how well it is provided
with arterial blood through coronary vessels (arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle),
- Condition in which our arteries are, whose ability to properly transport blood drops
in the situation of advanced atherosclerosis or lack of their flexibility.
- The condition of venous vessels, which do not have as well developed smooth
muscles and elasticity as arteries, so they are exposed to blood stasis,
varicose veins development and increased venous blood thrombosis (deep vein thrombosis)
which may be a source of clots.
